Select the folder you wish to back up to then select the Open button to close the Choose Directory window. You may choose any storage media available on your computer including other computers on your network.
3. What does the Re index folder do and when should it be used.
If you believe your data may have become corrupted through a computer system problem - e.g., an operating system crash, the Re-Index utility will re-index the data base tables. Before using this utility make sure you have a current backup of your data.
4. Whenever I close the Real Estate Real Easy program a dialog box asks if I want to backup my data. Should I?
Yes - If you back up whenever the program is closed you are assured your data is safe. We have developed a very simple backup utility as your business information is important and should be kept safe at all times.
5. How long does it take to perform a Backup.
It depends on the amount of data that has been entered into your Real Estate Real Easy program. The time required to perform a backup can be anywhere from under one minute to several minutes. The average is around 1-2 minutes. It's worth the time it takes to backup on a regular basis. Consider how long it would take to re-enter the information if it was lost or your computer suffered a hard drive failure. This is your most important business information, keep your backup file current. You should perform a backup at the end of the day or after entering a lot of data.
6. Can I import my data from Professional Real Estate or Instant Impact into Real Estate Real Easy?
Yes. We provide free Export / Import programs specific to these two programs. You may download these free utilities from our download. They are self executing programs and will automatically copy the data from PRE or Instant Impact and import them into the appropriate areas of Real Estate Real Easy.
7. How do I keep my data synchronized if I have a home and office computer?
Select the System module then select the Backup folder in the folders pane. A removable storage media (Zip or CDRW drive), is required. Create a Backup folder on the removable drive. Perform a Backup of your data to the folder on the removable drive. Start Real Estate Real Easy on your second computer and insert the removable media with the backup data into the CD drive (if CD used). Select the Restore folder in the folders pane and choose the Backup directory from the CD drive as the data source. Perform the Restore operation and the data on this computer is replaced with the data in the Backup folder. If you made any changes while working on the second computer, and you close the program, a dialog window will ask if you want to perform a Backup. Select yes, Backup your data, then perform the Restore operation on the other computer.
Import / Export
8. Can I import my contact records from Top Producer 7i?
Yes - Export the records from Top Producer (under Setup menu in 7i) in the .csv file format. Open the Import .csv /.dbf import utility in the Real Estate Real Easy System module. Follow the instructions on the import screens to select your file, map the importing fields and preview records before the actual import process is complete.
9. Can I import my schedule from other programs into Real Estate Real Easy?
No - Real Estate Real Easy schedules are in a different format than most programs. Each schedule in Real Estate Real Easy is tied directly to a Prospect, Servicer or Contract record. We plan to make this feature available in a future release.
10. Can I export Prospect/Servicer records for import into my Palm Pilot or other handheld portable device(PDA)?
You can export Prospect/Servicer records using the System module .csv / .dbf file format export utilities. Select the System icon in the menu pane. Select the Export folder in the Folders pane, select the .csv/.dbf export utility. Follow the instructions on the screen or view the System Utilities movie in the Tutorial section on our web site. Once exported, the Prospect/Servicer records can be imported into a handheld using the import utility that is provided with the handheld. The PDA desktop program must have the ability to import .csv and/or .dbf file formats. Most handheld's do have the necessary import/export utility.
11. Why do my contact records have no addresses after importing them from Microsoft Outlook.
Before importing your Microsoft Outlook records determine how the addresses are categorized. Outlook provides address categories for Home, Business and Other address. During the import process you may select to Never use the Business or Other Address, or Always use the Business or Other Address. If your contact addresses are categorized as Business or Other Address and you select the Never use the Business or Other Address option no addresses will be imported. If you select Always use the Business or Address and a Home address is missing, the program can use the Business or Other Address as the Home Address.
12. I imported an APN Farm file but no property details were imported into the Prospect record's Property tab.
To get property details into the Property tab of a Prospect's record you must use the Import Farms from a Title Company or other APN data source/program that exports either a comma-separated (.csv) file or a dBase (.dbf) file, import option. The .csv import utility icon immediately above the APN farm import utility icon is designed to import just those fields in the main Prospect window.
Importing APN Farm files must contain field data for the fields in the Property tab. During the import process view the left column (importing file header names), to determine what field information is included in the file. The middle column contains the importing record data. Just because the importing file contains the header names does not necessarily mean it contains data for all fields. You can view the raw data in Microsoft Excel.
